The Bible Approves Abortion
In my personal opinion, the Bible doesn't make a whole lot of sense (I am an atheist), but I believe it's important to study because of the profound effect it has on the daily lives of so many people, the overwhelming majority of which have never read the damn thing. When mindless devotion met laziness, the result was a widespread Christian belief that their god disapproves abortion. However,
Numbers 5: 27-28,
"If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse. If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children."
God is prepared to call a curse that causes miscarriage if a wife is unfaithful; essentially, if you get pregnant out of wedlock, God wants to perform the abortion himself.
If you have an alternative interpretation of this passage, please let me know so I can make my argument stronger or yield if proven wrong.
